One thing I learned from reading the book Atomic Habits a couple of years ago is to make good habits easy to access and bad habits hard.

After learning this, I made many changes to my environment and when working on my KDP business. One of the things I started to do was to put my phone far away from me when working.

Before, I'd have my phone beside me on my desk. And the visuals and sounds from notifications would create an urge in me to grab it. And I'd do exactly that and waste valuable time I had allotted to create books.

Nowadays, when I'm working, I make sure to put my phone on silent and away in the other side of the room (although it's better to put it in a different room). The added difficulty, even though small of having to get off my chair and walk to the other side of the room if I want to use my phone, usually prevents me from doing so.

Give this technique a try if you find yourself distracted by your phone when working.
